Installing Samson on a HPC cluster
-
Hi,
I wonder if it is possible to install Samson on an HPC cluster where academic users could have access to it? As far as I can see, the way the installer works is for a single person, where one needs to write the key to proceed with the installation.

Hi Pedro,
Have you explored the Groups option, which seems to allow creation of user groups, when logged in online (see just beneath Profile when signed in).

Hi Pedro,
Indeed, currently, SAMSON is installed for a single user. And one can run only a single instance of SAMSON on a system (e.g., to not mess up with internal saving of preferences, GUI states, etc.).
Could you please tell us more about your use case and the need to install SAMSON on HPC? If you want to discuss elsewhere, you can contact us at: contact@samson-connect.net .
If you want to install SAMSON on multiple PCs at once (e.g., for student classrooms) with a single key, then we can try to have a special solution for this.
Also, SAMSON requires the use of its GUI, so if one installs it on a cluster for its own use, then it will be necessary to use it via X-term or something similar.

The groups on the SAMSON Connect website are mainly for collaboration purposes (see: User Guide: Collaboration), but they can be extended to manage licenses.
